As July comes sneaking into our calendars, we are extremely excited as A Cappella mania begins to take us over, starting with The A Cappella Championships! Applications are still accepted but hurry! We are confident that this year's participants would prove forces to be reckoned with and bring down the house with their sets. So join us, 25 July at the Esplanade as we watch our local budding groups take the stage by storm!

National A Cappella Championships 2007

The trend continues and A Cappella music becomes ever more popular. More groups than ever have signed up for the Championships. Now it's our turn to go through all the demos sent in, so far we can say that the quality keeps improving too, so you'd better be ready for an exciting competition. I don't want to be in the place of the judges who will have their work cut out
trying to decide a ranking, but that's why we got some of the biggest names in the industry on board, led by Oscar Pantaleon flying in from the Philippines and a few surprises that the groups can look forward to. Of course you will also have your chance to support a group and determine the audience favorite, but hurry, there is only a limited number of tickets available for the finals.
Verve Enharmonics presents "VnH: One and Only"
Verve Enharmonics will be going on indefinite hiatus following a hectic but fulfilling three years of singing. We will be holding our debut/farewell concert, entitled "VnH: One and Only", as the final item on our calendar of events. The concert will feature favourites from our repertoire through the years, and we have heavily subsidised ticket costs as a thank-you gift to all our friends, family, and fans. If you've ever been entertained or amused by our music, we hope that you will be free to join us this one last time. Email us to order tickets. See you there!

The Austrian A Cappella group Triu released a new CD just a few days ago. Unfortunately we couldn't be present at the launch at the winery of Hubert, one of the singers. But we?re sure it was a great event, tasting wine and A Cappella at the same time. At least you can listen to the music at www.triu.at and then order the CD from The A Cappella Society.

A Cappella Festival 07
This year's festival will be back at the Victoria Theatre during the school holidays on the 4th & 5th of September and we have an outstanding cast of performers lined up just for you!
Featuring from Singapore : Key Elements, nanu, Equivox, Tic Tac Tone, Beats Association, TAS Youth Voices and more! Featuring SJTone from Korea and Wicked Pitches from Malaysia. Not forgetting our winners from this year's A Cappella Championships too! And we'll premier our Fest for Kids, an afternoon show with and for kids! The shows will be directed by our resident Director, Mr. Vincent Pang. Tickets will be available from early July through Gatecrash.
Arts Education Programme with NANU
Our assembly programme continues with full swing after the holidays!
The Society did many shows in the schools in the first half of the year, and Rock pop A Cappella with NANU was well received everywhere and got excellent reviews, all the way from Primary schools to the National Institute of Education! Make sure you catch a programme that presents an interactive presentation of contemporary songs catering to an audience of all ages. This programme is available all-year round. It is part of the NAC's Arts Education Programme and is Tote Board Fund approved.
The Society also has training programmes and workshops available for schools.

TRAINING
TAS Ensemble Course
Come explore contemporary a cappella with the TAS adult ensemble as we embark on a 3-month journey through the world of the human voice. This twelve-week series of seminars-cum-rehearsals culminating in a public presentation promises to equip you with the fundamental skills of a cappella performance. Experienced clinicians will lead you and your fellow singers through a discussion of various topics, including i) recent developments in a cappella music, ii) elements of blend in close harmony, iii) dynamic microphone technique, iv) an introduction to vocal percussion, and iv) basic staging and song presentation. You will also be guided through the rehearsal of 3-4 songs from a variety of genres to practice your newfound knowledge.
So if you have always wanted to be a part of an a cappella group, but could never figure out how to get one started, or find the right people to sing with; or if you've been singing for a while, and want a new perspective on contemporary a cappella music, then this is the course for you! Song Writing For A Cappella Workshop
Learn how to write a song. From catching lyrics to captivating music and blending it into a fascinating song. Keith Kwok will show you how to bring your idea onto a music sheet. Keith studied at the famous Berkely University and is the Director of School of Music & The Arts SoMA at ParkMall.
