Home4th of July Holiday Includes High Profile Performances

Continuing their impressive ascension, Straight No Chaser has been tapped to be part of Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular (NBC) in New York City, a venerable institution that this year is exploring the idea of harmony in American music. Not only will they be performing in the evening show along with other acts like Justin Bieber and the cast of "Twilight", but they'll appear live on the "Today Show" on Sunday, July 4, at 8am, to sing "America The Beautiful". At the big event, they'll be singing "Alexander's Ragtime Band" and "Stars and Stripes Forever", and the songs (Deke Sharon arrangements, of course!) will be - this may be the coolest part of all! - "choreographed" to the fireworks!

You can get SNC's version of "Alexander's Ragtime Band" for FREE on the page linked above, and "America The Beautiful" here (a patriotic $1.29!)

Over at ABC, "America Celebrates July 4th at Ford's Theatre" airs Friday, July 2, (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET). In addition to Kelly Clarkson, George Lopez, and Lionel Richie, Dick Van Dyke's group The Vantastix will take the stage.

And for dessert, why not try this video of our friend Mr. Tim, "Grand Old Flag"-ing it, kazoo-style? The folks at JibJab partnered with Mr. Tim for this fun piece. You can even send it as an e-card if you're a JibJab member ($12 a year):

Happy Independence Day, everyone, from your friends at CASA! Sing out loud!

Can't wait to see it!

Cartoon Johnny also released a free download of Deke Sharon's arrangement of "America the Beautiful" today as well. Cool to hear two takes of the same song, and we selected some different verses/lysics to feature.
