The application deadline for the 2006-2007 season of the International Completion of Collegiate A Cappella is November 1st. Quarter-final shows will be held in January and February at various locations. This year, the West Semi-finals move to a NEW location, the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium, home of the National Harmony Sweepstake Finals. GIGS WANTED: The College Groups are coming!
Since 1981 Mixed Company of Yale has been astounding audiences all over the world with a unique brand of coed a cappella. Our diverse repertoire draws from Jazz standards to radio hits, from Motown to Broadway. Whenever classes are out, Mixed Company hits the road to sing for audiences around the world. Whether performing at a local school assembly, at a New York Mets game, or at a magnificent cathedral in Barcelona, Mixed Company has a performance fit for the occasion. We also bring our singing to the classroom, guest teaching music classes and assisting eager music and choir students with a variety of vocal pursuits and challenges. This winter, Mixed Company will be visiting the Southern California area from Monday January 8th through Sunday January 14th. Although most competing groups sing contemporary a cappella music, all styles have been performed on our stages. Ideal candidates will have experience singing and/or teaching multiple styles of a cappella music and are able to provide constructive feedback in writing during the performance. The Masters of Harmony, 6 time International Chorus Champions, with 120 active singers, sets a standard of performance excellence that is the epitome of the barbershop art-form. The chorus is directed by Mark Hale, an international gold medalist quartet and choral director winner. The chorus performs publicly about once a month throughout Southern California. Our repertoire ranges from popular classics to Broadway show tunes, patriotic music, songs of faith and more. The MOH seeks singers who... (A) have experience singing in an ensemble, (B) sing with above average skills and (C) are willing to commit themselves to becoming an active member of the performing chorus. The audition process starts on the first evening. Those who qualify to continue will have an opportunity to complete the audition process in the weeks that follow.
