NBC’s “The Sing-Off” is a television first: a 4-night-only event that pits 8 a cappella groups of varying styles against each other, each vying for a Epic Records/Sony Music recording contract and a substantial cash prize. No lip-syncing or studio magic allowed. Show dates are 12/14-16 from 8-10pm, with the live finale on 12/21 from 8-10pm. The competing groups represent a variety of styles, ages and approaches, and come from all over the US, and Puerto Rico. The show will be hosted by Nick Lachey, with guest judges Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Nicole Scherzinger.

Voices of Lee is a school-sponsored ensemble from Lee University, a religious school in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Created in 1994 (official web site) or 1995 (facebook page) by veteran church musician, promoter, and choral clinician Danny Murray, VOL  maintains a busy schedule of mainly ecclesiastical performances. Murray still directs the group.

Their official bios list the group as 16 or 17 members strong, but the group in the competition has 10 members.

VOL have appeared on "Good Morning America", Bill Gaither's "Familyfest" and “Praise Gathering” and in some of America's most noted churches and conferences such as Christ Church of Nashville, Tennessee. Their convention appearances have taken them from Israel to Ontario and numerous cities all over the nation.
