NBC’s “The Sing-Off” is a television first: a 4-night-only event that pits 8 a cappella groups of varying styles against each other, each vying for a Epic Records/Sony Music recording contract and a substantial cash prize. No lip-syncing or studio magic allowed. Show dates are 12/14-16 from 8-10pm, with the live finale on 12/21 from 8-10pm. The competing groups represent a variety of styles, ages and approaches, and come from all over the US, and Puerto Rico. The show will be hosted by Nick Lachey, with guest judges Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman, and Nicole Scherzinger.

Group Name: Noteworthy from Brigham Young University
Home: Provo, UT
Established: 2003
Configuration: 9 Females

Formed in 2004 by Esther Yoder and Vocal Point alumni Dave Brown and Dan Dunn, Noteworthy is a nine-person all-female group hailing from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. This relatively young group is borne out of a rich choral and contemporary a cappella tradition at BYU, and is the sister group of the 2006 ICCA champions, Vocal Point. Since Noteworthy’s founding, they have been at the forefront of all-female a cappella in the US, be it professional or collegiate.

Having toured and performed all over the Western states, Noteworthy recently performed at the Las Vegas A Cappella Summit alongside pop sensations Mosaic. Since their inception, Noteworthy has participated in numerous ICCA competitions throughout the West, culminating in a first place finish and the title of International Champions in New York City in 2007. Their first album, On The Horizon, was nominated for a Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award and their most recent album, Green Means Go, had the track “Listen” chosen for the 2010 Best Of Collegiate A Cappella compilation album.

Noteworthy's Courtney Jensen told CASA: "We have been working night and day...literally, rehearsal after rehearsal to make this show as amazing as possible. You really won't want to miss the awesome fun that happens on that stage. I knew I couldn't have any expectations going into this experience, but it really blew my face off how much work goes into making a TV show get off its feet. Every single person in every single group is amazing and pushed themselves to the limit for this show!

We just hope that we were able to be the best representation of all-female a cappella as possible and we hope to make everyone proud! WATCH THE SHOW!!!"

Knock 'em out, ladies!
