Vocal Motion Six (Vm6) is a 5-person male Inspirational Acappella and Classical group taking the world by storm with their exceptional harmonies. The members, Vasco, Thomas, Jones, Mark and Peter, represent the Mario and the Chizyuka families and began singing together in February 1999.

The group originated in Rundu the northeastern part of Namibia, as a composition of six vocalists but become five in 2005 when one of the members left the group. VM6 was originally known as Breath of Truth. The group changed its name in the year 2000. After only 10 months together in 1999, the group won the prestigious Namibia Broadcasting Corporation Music Makers awards for best vocal group in the vocal category and also won as the overall winners of the competition. This was a live broadcast both on TV and radio. As the group evolved to explore new musical expressions, they built a diverse repertoire that includes: Acappella, gospel, inspirational, jazz, ballads, classic and R&B. They sing in English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Afrikaans, and a number of southern African languages. The group has now taken the Namibian corporate market and the general public by storm with their new image and out-of-this world performances! In addition, the young men of VM6 have become role models in the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Namibia. The band together with a young HIV+ woman who tells her compelling story perform at schools throughout Namibia and bring HIV/AIDS prevention, anti-stigma, and living positive messages to Namibian youth.

Community Involvement and Projects by VM6:

VM6 embraces the quote by Albert Pike “What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us, what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal” Thus, VM6 is also involved in community activities in Namibia. Since 2007, the group has conducted tours funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief – PEPFAR - called the living positive Tours. This is a collective initiative of the Public Affairs Office of the US Embassy in Namibia, VM6, and Herlyn U’iras, a courageous young Namibian woman living with the HIV virus. VM6 and Herlyn perform at schools throughout Namibia bringing HIV/AIDS prevention, anti-stigma, and living positive messages to the youth. They also performed in mining industry, churches and community halls. Since then, they have reached more than 85,000 mostly youth in their tours.
