Mister Tim's picture

I still can't (technically) talk about my experience on America's Got Talent, but if I could, I would just mention (for the three or four of you that actually watch the show, who might actually care):

Them buzzers are LOUD.

When you see people flinch when the buzzers go off, it's because it is painful.  For example, check out David Johnson with the best song so far this season:

I was below the stage in the waiting room and heard a buzzer for the first time.  It SCARED me.  LOUD.  Bone-meltingly loud.

That is all.

BUT

I've watched every stupid minute of that show and have seen neither hide-nor-hair...WTF?

Next week is the last week of auditions, whatever that means.

ouch

The fact that they make the buzzers intentionally so loud is yet another indication that they really have no interest in nuturing or PRESENTING new talent. It's just about the spectacle, the more humiliating for the performers the better (unless they're that week's treacly "feel good" weepy sob story). Gross. I hope you guys fared ok, because you don't deserve that.

absolutely

Can you imagine what those buzzers sound like to a kid whose auditioning? Must be devastating.

kids.

Heh.  That's why they never buzz kids :-)

And that is why

having kids compete with the adults is ridiculous.

There should also be a separate show for PopOpera, too. Apparently, anyone singing opera or opera-like music is OMG THE MOST AMAZING SINGERS IN THE UNIVERSE (universe…universe…universe).

Y'know, lets just start a PopOperApella group ourselves and sweep AGT next season!

also...

make sure that your group includes some kids who have a weepy backstory and you will be a shoe-in!

this will work!

Woah... this seriously might work.  Popera with kids who have CANCER.  That sounds horrible... but it's worth a million bucks!!!!

AAAAND

Throw in some puppies who do circus tricks and we'll be set. We'll conquer THE WORLD.

ditto that

Piers gave Face the buzz about .02 seconds into our song. So not only was it loud, it was early, making it that much more painful and distracting. So far your experiences echo ours, Tim. I mean the ones that we're allowed to talk about, that is.
