So, what is the story? In the course of the evening an audience member came up to ask questions regarding the upcoming May 5-7 Spring Sing in the Rockies and asked if the performers were going to benefit from the "singers' workshops" that were described in opening remarks; we replied that they were welcome but that the whole enterprise was an expensive venture and that we had to charge for almost all of the events, including the two workshops by members of the world-renowned group, m-pact. The same person came back later and handed over a check for $250 to "help do what we do." When called this morning to express gratitude and ask how he felt the money should be used, he suggested that 25 "a cappella kids" like those he had heard Monday night be sponsored specifically to attend the May 6 workshops as his anonymous guests.

So as a result an announcement has been made across Colorado inviting the first 25 students who would like to attend the m-pact workshops (there are two to choose from) to send an email with names and schools listed. Our organization will respond with specific info and set aside event badges for those individuals at the door to gain admittance to the workshops at no cost.

It’s a special thing when members of the public are moved to action in this way. It shows where the heart of the a cappella community especially lies – in its youth. And it makes all the hard work that folks here and throughout the CASA world undertake really worthwhile. We’ll be looking out for these kids and assuring that their goals and dreams are realized in every way possible.

And we wish to express appreciation to our Monday evening benefactor for making this possible. We at CVJS of course wish the whole weekend could be free! It will be an exciting time for all. (see www.cvjs.org for details.)
