The Sound Bytes
The Sound Bytes are a contemporary “a cappella” group consisting of five men who hail from Phoenix, Arizona, and whose thrill in life is performing vocal music in close 5-part harmony. They perform a wide variety of high energy, contemporary styles, including rock/pop covers, motown, and doo-wop. The group was formed on a whim in 1994 as an act in the Intel Benefit Show, a talent show consisting entirely of Intel employees, the proceeds for which have gone to charitable organizations such as the Chandler Boys and Girls Club and the Autumn House domestic violence shelter. This show was so much fun and resulted in so many referrals, that the group decided to stay together. Since then, the group has been performing in concerts, private parties, corporate events, coffee houses, churches, and charity events. They have been written up in local newspapers, and have appeared twice on television. But one of their favorite musical venues is a sidewalk or street-corner, where an impromptu, upbeat number can turn a passing crowd into a captive audience.
