Kefas Gospel Choir
For 30 years, Kefas has been one of Denmark´s leading gospel choirs. Kefas Gospel Choir was founded in 1975 by Peter Steinvig who is still the choir´s leader. The choir is directed by Claes Wegener. Kefas is based in the Methodist Church of Copenhagen, but the choir members come from a variety of Christian backgrounds. Kefas Gospel Choir has performed in a variety of places and occasions - concerts, appearances on TV and radio, charity events - in churches, concert halls and museums all over Denmark. In May 2000, Kefas went on a very successful second tour to the USA and visited four different states. Everywhere, the choir received an overwhelmingly warm and positive welcome by a "professional" gospel audience. In July 2001, the choir went to England and performed in London and at the 18th World Methodist Conference in Brighton. Kefas has also performed in Germany, Poland and Italy. Kefas Gospel Choir is known for working with some of the more famous names in gospel music worldwide such as Andrae Crouch, Edwin Hawkins and Richard Smallwood. Many of these contacts have been formed as a result of the Copenhagen Gospel Festival - a major annual event in the life of the city - in which Kefas plays an integral part
