Cadence

We are a young barbershop quartet from all over Great Britain who have been singing together since May 2006, when we got together to sing a few tags on the last day of convention in Harrogate. With various people being unavailable over the following summer, we were unable to finally rehearse as a full quartet until September, with three weeks to go until Prelims - the quarter-finals of the British Association of Barbershop Singers' national competition. After only three proper rehearsals for our first public performance/competition, we placed 12th out of approx. 25 quartets. This meant we qualified for the semi-finals in Scarborough in May, an event we had been looking forward to for many years - the first time any of us had competed in Barbershop Quartet competition! We had an amazing time in Scarborough and moved up the rankings from 12th to joint 9th! The competition was so close that only a few extra points in any category would have pushed us into the finals! The quartet is very happy with our acheivement and are extremely proud of the two trophies we collected as this year's best Youth Quartet and Novice Quartet! We are already building towards next year's quartet prelims in October, and we intend to qualify for the finals and give all these experienced quartets a real run for their money, to show off just how good British Youth Barbershop can be!
