HomeJoakim Skog Reports On The Scene In Sweden / October 2005

On the first evening we got VeryEight www.veryeight.com together with Vocal Brand www.vocalbrand.se . After the two first sets VP (standup comedian as well I'd say) Svante Drake came along to do a short set which then continued with him doing 4 songs together with VeryEight.

During breaks there was a bar in the foyer, where we also got a small CD shop with imported stuff (thanks to a-cappella.com!) along with CDs from local talents (the Real Group, Riltons Vänner, Vibafemba, Visa Röster, Vocal Six etc).

The concept is to have both well-known groups performing as well as groups who don't yet have an audience or a possibility to have their own concert. We're also hoping to see some experimenting going on (like the VeryEight + Svante Drake thing) and I know that Riltons Vänner are looking forward to coming to the club (Nov 9) since they will get to perfom some of their CD stuff that they don't get to do on gigs and concerts that often.

It felt like a great start of a new club, and the feedback was overall very positive. The next two dates are Nov 9 and Dec 7, and the groups are already lined up. We're on a very small budget right now, so the groups don't get paid at all (or at least *very* little). It's a small theatre with only 140 seats, so it's hard to get lots of income to spend on pro groups, but that's something we have to live with, I guess.
