When something you work for becomes a book and then a movie you have a reason to be proud.

Amanda Newman is a Prospect High School alum who loved being involved in orchestra, show choir and musicals. She has lived in both Des Plaines and Mt. Prospect.

“What got me involved in music was Prospect’s show choir called ‘Mixed Company.’ It was really an amazing experience. Then when I went to the University of Illinois, I auditioned for an a cappella group called ‘No Strings Attached’. It seemed similar to show choir,” Newman said.

After Newman graduated from the University of Illinois she got involved with Varsity Vocals, which is based in Maine. The centerpiece of their programming is the International Championship of Collegiate A cappela (ICA).
