HomeBlogsbspaldin's blogVoices in Harmony – A Pop A Cappella Singsation

As I’ve talked about before, high school a cappella is on the rise. My high school a cappella group is getting more and more opportunities to perform and get feedback these days, which is a truly wonderful thing. We just participated in the Fall Festival at Kettering Fairmont, and now my group Forte is getting ready for another exciting a cappella festival. Lexington, Kentucky is home to a festival called Voices in Harmony. This event will take place at Lexington Catholic High School. This festival is in its second year and it had a very successful first year. This event is open to both collegiate and high school groups. The event will take place on March 9 and 10, 2012. On Friday, the collegiate groups will have a competition and a concert and then on Saturday, the high school groups will have a competition and a concert. Both days will feature clinics run by guest clinicians including John Gentry of JAG Recording Studios, Bryan Sharpe, Mister Tim, Shane Coe, and myself. The weekend event will end with a performance featuring The House Jacks, including Deke Sharon. The winners of the high school and collegiate competitions will have the honor of opening up for The House Jacks during their performance at a concert on Saturday evening. Don’t miss out on another exciting opportunity to grow your a cappella skills and share your love of a cappella music with other enthusiasts. For more information about this event contact Adam Beeken, the Choral Director at Lexington Catholic High School.
