Drexel University TrebleMakers

The TrebleMakers have come a long way from their humble beginnings. In 2001, senior Michelle Hollins, a close friend and follower of 8 to the Bar, decided it was time Drexel had a female a cappella group. Fifteen girls showed up to the first meeting, and the TrebleMakers (TMs) were born. After three months of organizational meetings, the TrebleMakers were officially recognized by Drexel University on April 4th, 2001, with ten founding members.

After only a month of rehearsals, the TMs first performed as the opening act for 8 to the Bar’s annual concert on May 19, 2001. The debut set included "Amazing Grace", Madonna's "Like a Prayer", "Possession" by Sarah McLachlan, and "River So Wide" by Phil Collins, which was performed with members of 8 to the Bar.

Ten years later, The Drexel TrebleMakers remains to be Drexel's only all-female a cappella group on campus.   Officially recognized back in April 2001, the group has since performed in numerous states on the East coast at a variety of venues. In addition, each year the TrebleMakers host 3 concerts of their own, but in the mean time they enjoy performing at other events on Drexel's campus.

In recent years these ladies have been spotted singing the "Star Spangled Banner" at the Phillies Stadium, performing live on CBS3 for a Ronald McDonald House telethon, entertaining participants of DALSAA's Hope Walk at Ridley Creek Park, and captivating the attention of guests at The Mazzoni Center's Elixir event.  When the Drexel TrebleMakers are not busy supporting local philanthropies, perhaps they can be spotted singing at UMBC with the Mama's Boys or even on campus jamming with their brother group, Drexel's 8 to the Bar.

In January 2006, the TrebleMakers released their first CD, Sunglasses at Night. It features the repertoire from the 04-05 singing year. In 2009, the group released a second CD, "Classy Girls Drink Boone's," including highlights from 2006-2008!  As you the years have passed, the talent keeps getting better and better!  Stay tuned…The TrebleMakers are preparing to record and release a new album within the upcoming year!

Keep an eye on this group!
