Rhythm & Blue

Rhythm & Blue is Duke University's premier co-ed a cappella group and has been rockin' out since its founding in 1992. Originally an offshoot of the university's formal choir, RnB has since developed our own style and become a prominent player in the a cappella community both at Duke and beyond!

Always striving to move forward, we have achieved some monumental landmarks in the a cappella community this year.

In May 2006, "Mr. Brightside" (The Killers), a track from our latest CD "With the Windows Down", was selected to appear on the Voices Only 2006 compilation CD. The track was arranged by Matt Emery and features Mickey Goetz on solo and Russell Hainline on vocal percussion.

Rhythm & Blue was also selected to appear on the Best of College A Cappella (BOCA) 2007 CD! "Ready for Love" (India.Arie), arranged by Jenna Olson and Matt Emery and featuring Kateri Zhu on solo, joins the best songs of the year on this highly prestigious compilation. This song will also appear on our next CD, due to come out in late 2007.

In April 2007, we received two Runner-Up CARA awards for Best Mixed Collegiate Solo (Shalisha Francis) and Arrangement (Matt Emery) for two tracks off our most recent album. We couldn't be more excited!

Our recent performance of "The Humans Are Dead" by Flight of the Conchords is now featured on the group's official Myspace site! We sang this at the Freshman A Cappella Jam on 8/26 and will continue to perform it throughout the coming school year.
