Luminous Quartet

Luminous are the Sweet Adelines International Rising Star Champions 2007! They are a young female barbershop quartet based in St. Louis, Missouri, USA

At the 2007 Sweet Adelines Intl. Convention in Calgary this past October, Luminous were thrilled to open the Quartet Finals and to be representing YWIH from across the world. During the convention week Luminous performed at the Lobby Show in support of the Young Singers Foundation, and enjoyed spending time afterwards socializing and singing tags with the younger Rising Stars of the future! Furthermore - Ellie was excited to be asked to join her UK home chorus, Lace City Singers, on stage in the chorus semi-finals. Emma, Casey and Lauren watched and cheered loudly as Lace City sang their way into 18th place - the highest EVER placement and score for a UK chorus!

You’ll have gathered that Luminous span 2 continents. Ellie, a native of the UK, joined Lauren and Emma in the St. Louis Harmony Chorus in September 2006 when she arrived in St. Louis to pursue a year long post-graduate internship. Despite Emma leaving the chorus due to college commitments the three girls continued their hunt for a baritone to complete the quartet. Casey was performing in the Old St. Charles Christmas parade when she met Ellie in December 2006. It turned out that Casey knew Emma and Lauren through college music and mutual friends. She jumped at the chance to sing in a quartet with them so they got together and Luminous was formed.

Emma and Casey registered with Sweet Adelines as Chapter-at-Large so that the quartet could register and enter the regional contest. On March 30th, 2007 they placed 9th at the region 5 contest after only 7 weeks of rehearsing. That same weekend Lauren and Ellie were pleased to win title of Region 5 Chorus Champions with the St. Louis Harmony Chorus.
