Ensemble Norma

ENSEMBLE NORMA consists of five female singers. The Finnish, Helsinki-based group was founded in 2004. The songs they sing, composed and arranged by members of the group, tell powerful stories which taste of life. Their music, straddling folk, pop and jazz, is coloured by improvisation and a rich sonic world.

The internationally acclaimed group was recently awarded 2nd prize in the Aarhus Vocal Festival 2013 competition for vocal groups. On top of that, the group was handed a special prize for the most innovative arrangement of the compulsory piece. Earlier contest triumphs include a second place in the prestigeous A Cappella Contest Leipzig (April 2012), and the victory in the Finnish Klementti-competition (October 2012).

Ensemble Normas long-awaited EP Hei lempi! ('Hello, love!') was released in April 2011. Together with Soila Sariola (Rajaton), the singers of Ensemble Norma have formed a vocal group called Moninainen,
which dives into the realms of free vocal improvisation.
