St. Paul, MN

Earthtones women's chorus was formed in 2000 by director Peggy Larson. Her interest in World Music and her extensive experience as a Jazz performer helped her bring together an eclectic group of women from throughout the Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA metro area.

While the members hail from all walks of life they are brought together by the challenge of taking on new sounds, languages, chords and rhythms and turning them into finely tuned musical performances.

Each season's repetoire, and efforts are built around a particular universal theme. The fall 2011 season theme is music from Africa and includes music from throughout the African continent.

The group collaborates with local arts and community organizatrons, churches, and individual artists to introduce world music to the broader community. They have also rased funds to support education and development efforts in Tanzania through their performances.
