City of Flags Chorus

The City of Flags Chorus is a nonprofit organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performances. In 1964, 18 women began singing barbershop harmony in the Canton area. Now, we are 60 members strong, gathering from Akron, Canton, North Canton, Tallmadge, Wooster, Louisville and many surrounding communities. We are an active chapter of the Sweet Adelines International, one of the worlds largest singing organizations for women, adopintg the motto, "Harmonize the World". Our goal is to encourage women to develop and master their singing techniques and experience the pleasure of singing four to eight part a capella harmony in the barbershop style. Under the direction of Darryl Flinn, our repertoire includes songs from the 50s to contemporary tunes. Our medal winning chorus sings balldads, rock & roll, Broadway show tunes, swing era, patriotic and other varied types of music. Flinn has directed both the City of Flags Chorus and Canton's all of Fame Men's barbershop chorus to championships and appearances on the international stage. He is the past International President of the Barbershop Harmony Society and recently retired as Executive Director of that worldwide organization. In addition to regular performances, we are available to perform at corporate events, civic events and charitable functions.
