Barbershop Sweethearts

The Barbershop Sweethearts began in 2002. The group was started by Gillian Sowray (alumni 2005) and a few cohorts. Thanks to her vision and the dedication of our fabulous members, the Barbershop Sweethearts has established itself as Boston University's only barbershop group! Now, the Sweethearts are eight members strong (a double-quartet), with two girls per voice part. The group focuses on strong harmonies, with no one member being featured. We all share an interest in the history and sound of barbershop music, but also have fun integrating more modern sounds into our repertoire without detracting from the barbershop feel. Our repertoire includes: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Up on the Roof, Da Doo Ron Ron, It's Raining Men, The Stars Will Remember, Fly Me to the Moon, Moon River, It Had to Be You, Flirty Eyes, Meet Me Tonight In Dreamland, and the Sweetheart's legacy song Java Jive.
