The Augmented Eight

The Augmented Eight has entertained audiences in Washington and elsewhere since 1950, when two a cappella quartets of Ivy League graduates, who just didn't want to quit singing, first got together. They have "augmented" their members and their musical styles over the years, using primarily their own arrangements. They can swing a "Lulu's Back in Town", but they also do humor, doo-wop, spirituals, rock and roll, Broadway, contemporary favorites, and even their own tribute to the millennium. The Augmented Eight is a non-profit organization, providing major support to local charities, including an annual benefit concert for the DC area's homeless -- Sing Out for Shelter.
