November 2000 serves as a new beginning for five unique individuals. These individuals, possessing a strong love and devotion for Christ, were joined together for one important cause. The purpose…ministry in music. With its members consisting of Tamara Wyatt, Dwight Anderson, Deborah Bennett, Joy Weatherford and Lisa Broyles, “Amar” has found their niche and is now on the move. “Our eyes are open,” says Lisa. “With each passing day we become more motivated, more focused on what we have to do. We decided to fuse both our love of music and our love for God together to create a powerful mission”. Amar’s mission is to cooperate in conjunction with the Holy Spirit in the very solemn act of soul winning. Through the use of heavenly inspired music, men and women both near and far will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and accept Him as Lord of their lives. Our daily lifestyles will reflect and testify to the fact that we are saved, and that we have a vibrant relationship with the Savior. The desire of seeing souls won to the kingdom is the sole purpose of our existence. This founding principle is the basis upon which all planning, organizing, and implementation thereof will be based. The success of Amar’s ministry will in a large degree depend upon the personal commitment its members have with their Lord and Savior and also upon their commitment to Amar Music Ministry. It is believed that we are called to this sacred work and God is preparing to use us mightily as long as we prove that we are faithful to Him. Amar has performed at several churches in the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia area. They entered a gospel talent show at Justin’s (Sean Puffy Comb's restaurant) of which they came in first place. They have made appearances on the Gospel Amateur night at the Apollo, Club Praise Gospel Show, The Sugar Bar (Nick Ashford and Valerie Simpsons' restaurant), The Priory, The Dancing Goat Café, Safe Haven Café, shared stage with The Singletons, Donald Lawrence, Vickie Winans, Valor, Gospel Saxophonist Tony Smith, and radio interviews with 90.3 FM. Praise FM. 89.9 WXXY Rejoice 97.9 FM and WFDU Gospel Jazzations 89.1 FM. Amar has also appeared in a television interview with Manhattan Cable Network's New York Images and Voices (Warner Communications), appeared on UPN Channel 9 News, was nominated for an EnSound Music Award, and released their first CD in February 2006 entitled “To Know Him”. However, these young people do not want to be recognized solely by their vocal capabilities but also by their dedication to Christ and the fulfillment of his desires to go forth and teach all nations. Amar’s goal is to spread the good news of Jesus while making positive contributions to their communities. Amar believes that with God all things are possible and pray that individuals will be blessed through their ministry.
