36 Madison Ave

36 Madison Avenue, Drew University’s only male a cappella group, was founded in 1987 by its four founding fathers in the bathroom of their dormitory. The group, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in the spring of 2012, has become a symbol of Drew since its birth. MadAve currently has a group of close to 200 alumni, an exclusive group that is still close today. A majority of that group still gets back together during JamFest weekend, MadAve’s annual spring concert which, in recent years, has become a tradition for the current group to bond with alums. The group currently has twelve members, each coming from a different area of the school. Ranging from neuroscience to political science, theater arts to business management, MadAve is made up of a diverse group of students that, while focusing on different issues throughout the world, meet three times a week to sing a cappella. In recent years, 36 Madison Avenue has expanded their performance list to national anthems at professional sporting events, weddings, and philanthropic gigs. They released their seventh album, “After Hours”, in the spring of 2011 to a crowd of over 500 at JamFest. The group is available for booking through their business manager and can also be seen on their annual two week tour of the east coast during Drew University’s winter break. They are currently working on releasing an EP for the spring of 2014.
