The Sounds of the Beatles in White Plains!

The Westchester Chordsmen, the award-winning 4-part harmony a cappella chorus, will perform a concert of Beatles songs on Saturday, April 20st during afternoon and evening performances at the White Plains Middle (Highlands) School*. The Chordsmen will perform a wide variety of familiar Beatles songs with the entire chorus, individual quartets and two VLQs (very large quartets!) made up of Chordsmen, all as part of the Chorus’ 60th Anniversary Celebration.

In addition, the Chordsmen will host a guest appearance by The Grace Notes, an all-female chorus, which will sing a medley of Beatles songs not being sung by the Chordsmen.

“It’s our intention to take the audience on a ‘magical musical tour.’ With a comic script by Show Director John Fotia surrounding the songs, it’ll be a very fun show for all ages,” says Show Chairman, Howard Sponseller.

Last April, the Chordsmen performed at Carnegie Hall. They then won their Division Contest in May, resulting in an invitation to perform at the BHS International Contest in Toronto, Canada in July, representing Westchester County as the only Westchester Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).

The Chorus’ musical repertoire extends beyond barbershop roots to Broadway show-tunes, doo-wop, traditional, gospel and contemporary songs arranged in four-part a cappella harmony for tenor, lead, baritone and bass singers. Rehearsals occur every Monday night at the White Plains Middle (Highlands) School on Old Mamaroneck Road in White Plains*. The Chorus’ 80 member-singers come from Westchester and surrounding counties in New York, Connecticut, New York City, and Long Island. Open auditions for membership are available every Monday night (see our rehearsal schedule and alternate locations at www.chordsmen.org).

The Westchester Chordsmen is a 501(C)3 not-for-profit performing arts organization whose mission is to spread the joy and fun of singing around our community, country and the world.
