Boston-based R&B vocal band is in the running to perform live on CBS's "The Early Show." I caught up with Aaron Loveland, BiTH's lead tenor to find out whats going on.
What is this contest?
The contest is called Living Room ... LIVE! -- Battle of the Bands on CBS's "The Early Show." Bands from all over the country have submitted video of an original song performed literally in their living rooms in the hope that they'll be chosen to have their taped performance broadcast on the show. Over the course of 12 weeks, viewers will narrow the list to the final three bands, then vote on them to name America's favorite new band.
Why did BiTH submit?
As a mainly original band we're always looking for ways to get our stuff out there. The winning band will be invited to perform on The Early Show the week of Sept. 24th. Needless to say, that's a HUGE opportunity for any indie/unsigned act.
How have your fans responded?
The people at CBS "The Early Show" selected our video to be shown on Monday Sept 3rd. We found out that Thursday that we had won that round with 52% of the votes! That was really exciting. We have been getting emails and messages from supporters all over the country and quite a few internationally. It's been awesome to see the support. I think that a lot of BitH fans have been waiting for an opportunity like this where they can show their support. It's been really cool...
What music are you performing?
We recorded a live version of Think About It, an up tempo track from our album of the same name. We decided on Think About It because the song has a strong hook and a kind of cross-over pop/R&B vibe. It's one of our favorites to perform as it's high energy and has become kind of a fan favorite.
What else is new in the band?
Well, we have been promoting our latest release, Granite Ave, touring all over, and have been in the studio this summer recording some new material, working on a Christmas CD.
What's coming up for BiTH?
We're just gonna keep doing what we do. With the continued support of our fans and hopefully the CASA community we'll win this thing and get some attention for our music and for the a cappella community as a whole. We've got a big year of touring ahead are in a really good creative space. All's going well and we're excited!
