Debra Farber, producer of the 2007 18th Annual Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes, has extended a call for qualified vocal groups from across the Rocky Mountain area. The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Ranum Auditorium in north Denver, Colorado, Those from the general region aspiring to a cappella greatness may still apply for acceptance into the lineup of eight performing groups who will be competing for recognition and valuable prizes, as well as the Rocky Mountain Championship title, which includes travel to the San Francisco Finals where the 2007 International A Cappella Champion will be selected.
Nationally recognized groups from the Rocky Mountain region, like the 17th Avenue Allstars, Groove Society and m-pact, have used the Sweeps as stepping stones to national success in the ever expanding field of contemporary a cappella.

Here are some audition details:
Groups competing at the 2007 Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes will benefit from singing in a tried and trusted venue, easily accessible near the Interstate 25 / US-36 interchange. The 1,200 seat theatre will be filled with folks who value and are moved by great a cappella sounds. Eight remarkable vocal groups from a 10 state area centered by Colorado will do their very best to take the prize and represent the Rocky Mountain Region at the May 2007 finals competition.
For groups who wish to audition, general information about the various regional competitions across the country is posted at www.harmony-sweepstakes.com, including what is required and, generally, how the competition is operated. For specific Rocky Mountain applications and information, go to www.cvjs.org and click on the Harmony Sweeps icon. You may also contact Debbie Faber at dfaberace@comcast.net or call 720-290-2761. Rocky Mountain rules and requirements are provided in a hard copy packet which will be mailed to you (or provided online at cvjs.org by pdf) for completion and return, postmarked no later than February 9, 2007. Your intention to audition should be emailed as soon as possible.
One notable change in the rules this year is that the competition is now open to groups with up to eight (8) members. This is a change from the maximum seven-member groups allowed in the past.
The May 2007 Harmony Sweepstakes Finals will be the 23rd national competition and March 31 the 18th Rocky Mountain show since entrepreneur and Primarily A Cappella founder John Neal created the widely acclaimed program.
Your audition requirements include the completed application form, photos, recording and $10 per singer entry fee (returned if your group is not selected). If your group is accepted, you'll find yourself on stage at the impressive Ranum Auditorium singin' your heart out and enjoying the reception of more than a thousand devoted a cappella fans!
A qualified audition committee will meet in mid February to review applicant vocal groups and select up to eight of the most qualified to perform in Denver on Saturday, March 31. A live audition is also available if you prefer. In addition to Champion and Runner Up, there will be group awards for audience favorite and best stage performance, and individual awards for best soloist, best arrangement, best original composition and best vocal percussionist. Four highly qualified regional judges will make the awards at the end of the competition.
