Straight No Chaser — a men's a capella group started in 1996 as an informal offshoot of the Indiana University Singing Hoosiers — is heading to Tulare and Kings counties to perform three concert fundraisers for the College of the Sequoias Foundation.
The group — comprising about a dozen undergraduates — performs songs from different genres, including such tunes as "Stardust," "Back Home Again in Indiana," "Moondance," "Jack and Diane" and "Africa."
Getting into the group isn't easy, said Jason Jacobs, a senior entering his third and final year in Straight No Chaser. Every year more than 40 singers try out for the few slots open in the group, he said.
