Six13 Featured at Jewish Heritage Day |

In Belarus, Yan Frenkel honed his singing skills and got to sing in front of 500 people. This Sunday, Frenkel will get to sing in front of 50,000 in Queens as he performs with his group Six13, as part of Jewish Heritage Day at Shea Stadium. Frenkel, who moved from Minsk to New York at the age of 12, said he was grateful to his parents for teaching him to sing as a child.
“I am glad they encouraged me,” said Frenkel, a senior at Yeshiva University. “It’s a great honor to sing at Shea Stadium. Our group has performed at concerts with other great artists and seen the thrill on the face of children at simchas. What is great about the performance this Sunday is that it allows us to share the power of our music not only with thousands of Jewish fans, but also presents the unique opportunity to share our music and our culture with those who aren’t Jewish or who might not have ever been exposed to it.”
