The a cappella group Naturally 7, who have one of the best videos on YouTube, will perform at the TD Canada Trust Vancouver International Jazz Festival on Thursday. We caught up with band member Roger Thoma by e-mail in Australia, where the group was wrapping up an overseas tour.

The band is now a decade old. How much scuffling did you have to do in those early days, and what was a typical gig for you?

A typical gig for us in the early-early days was churches. Later on, we played colleges all across America. Those were some very hard gigs, because sometimes the student attitudes were like, "Entertain me or I'll walk out."
