Page 1 of 2 Last summer, the Contemporary A Cappella League was born.

And this summer we're holding our first annual league-wide conference, in Memphis, TN, August 1-3, hosted by Deltacappella

Why am I bothering to post this in my blog?
Simple: I'd like to open up this event to a handful of non-league members. It's gonna be a historic, once-in-a-lifetime event (you can only have the first annual event once, right?), and as the league grows, it'll be really cool to say "I was there!"
The event itself is a whopper:
* Friday evening reception in the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, with recording time available... for everyone! Stand where Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis stood, and sing into the mic they used, and everyone will get a copy of their recording. Very cool, great way to kick off the weekend. No host bar, free finger food:

* Saturday workshops on a variety of topics with a cappella experts TBA. The location is the Orpheum Theater in Memphis. Gorgeous:

* Saturday lunch (included in ticket price) will be on Beale Street ("Walkin in Memphis... with my feet 10 feet off of Beale...") at BB King's Blues Club. Performances & BBQ:

* Take 6 workshop in the afternoon and concert at night:

* Sunday night afterglow at the Peabody Hotel (the famous one where the ducks walk in and swim in the pool...) No host bar, free finger food:

* Sunday's events will all be at the National Civic Rights Museum. We'll tour the location, hold workshops, and end the day with a knock-down drag-out Gospel sing-along.

Lunch on Sunday is also included in the ticket price: a Memphis catfish fry.
The weekend will have workshops, masterclasses and performances throughout.
In addition, current and future League group directors are invited to join us Friday for lunch and discussions about directing and managing.
The total price, per person, for the whole weekend, is only $125. When you consider 2 lunches, food at both Friday and Saturday night events, admission to 2 excellent museums, performing opportunities, recording at sun studio, private or public masterclasses, workshops... it's a bargain.
If you're interested in starting a league group, or would just like to take part in a great weekend of a cappella, drop me an email at deke@totalvocal.com and I'll tell you more.
