Fifty-five years ago Norman Lewis sang Goodbye at a school talent contest, surprising his mother with his voice and winning the senior boys singing competition.
Lewis sang the same song Wednesday night at the Neighbours Golden Voices Singing competition and won the People's Choice title, which is based on audience applause, for his a cappella performance.
"I feel very good," said Lewis, 70, after the competition.
Lewis said choosing to sing Goodbye, from the musical The Whitehorse Inn, was an easy choice. He was happy the song is still pleasing audiences, more than half a century after he first sang it.
