The tragic death of a Stow teenager is becoming a community focal point for helping others experience the joy of a successful life. On May 4, world-renown a capella group The Persuasions will headline a concert event at Nashoba Regional High School, Bolton, to benefit the Frankie DeMeo Memorial Fund. The Fund is designed to provide funding and support for children in need of special assistance, tutoring, and financial aid so they can better their lives. It is in tribute to Frankie DeMeo, the Nashoba senior and wrestling team co-captain who died February 5 after being struck by a car.
Often lauded as the premier a capella groups in today’s musical landscape, The Persuasions started out in Brooklyn, and have since paved the way for groups such as Boyz To Men, Take 6, and Rockapella. The group has performed on the Today Show, The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Over the years, The Persuasions have opened for Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention, Ray Charles, Bill Cosby, and Richard Pryor to name but a few. (Interestingly, it should be noted that acts such as Roseanne Barr and Bruce Springsteen once opened for The Persuasions.)
