The Music City Chorus (Nashville chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society) and three of its chapter quartets celebrated a successful weekend of competition in the Dixie District Spring Convention on March 14-16 in Greenville, SC.
The chorus, directed by Mike O’Neill, finished 2nd out of a field of 21 barbershop harmony choruses from TN, AL, MS, GA, NC, and SC. O’Neill, Director of Chorus Director Development for the Barbershop Harmony Society, stated that he is “very proud of the hard work the chorus has put in since I became Director in January to help us achieve this success and grow even stronger musically.”
Three quartets from the chapter also finished in the top 10 out of 23 quartets. Two of them, Redline and Lunch Break, qualified to compete in the International BHS Quartet competition in July in Nashville. The third quartet, Music Row, finished 7th in the competition.
