Duwende, NYC's bad-ace-all-original-vocal-rock-band, has released their 4th CD- "Collective." I caught up with the band when I found out that they are giving it away for free!

A new album? What's it called?

Collective.

When did you record it?

October and November of 2007.

Where? and for how long?

We recorded at B-11 Studios, Edward Chung's recording facility in Manhattan. All told, we spent a little bit more than a month in the studio.

Producer? Mixer?

Produced by Ed Chung, mixed by Bill Hare.

Originals or covers or a mix?

All originals. Duwende actually hasn't had a single cover on any of its
five recordings.

Giving it away for free? Why?

Our first priority is getting the music out there. As everybody knows,
the music industry is kind of crazy right now, and fewer and fewer people
seem to want to buy CDs. We decided to err on the side of more people
hearing our songs.

Don't you want to make a buck on the sales?

Musicians often claim to love what they do so much that they'd do it for
nothing. We're putting our (lack of) money where our mouths are...

Might we see a CD release party in the near future?

Definitely -- early February, in New York City.

What's in the works now that the CD is done?

Touring, touring, touring, and working on music for the next album.

Any more cable commercials on the horizon?

Only if Oreo doesn't call.

What is something crazy interesting that our readers don't know about
the band?

One of the rejected names when we decided to call ourselves Duwende was
"Challenge of the Super Friends." Morgan still wants that to be our name,
to this day.
