A Cappella Innovations 2007 is a festival hosted and created by the A cappella group "Simply Human" to promote innovation, evolution, and unity in the A Cappella community. This festival will promote learning and crucial networking that is needed to help the a cappella community grow stronger as a whole. It will also foster an appreciation in the general public of what can be done with the human instrument.
This wonderful festival will be held on Dec. 1st and 2nd with an optional meet and greet on Fri. night with the celebrity judges and other participants. This event in is Albany, NY at the famous historic "Egg". The workshops provided for all of the groups cover a broad range of traditional and non-traditional subjects - everything from: sound making, to arrangements, to vocal techniques, to performance, to percussion - some of the people running the workshops include: the House Jacks with renowned vocal percussionist Wes Carroll, a fantastic Brazilian woman named Denise Reis and other notables. Depending on interest, various informal activities will be available to foster networking and constructive co-support amongst groups; at the same time, the participating groups will also get the opportunity to perform for our professional judging panel to get some good, rich feedback on everything from precision to expression to blending.
Saturday night's performance will be open to the public and feature the House Jacks and our other professional groups. Sunday's event, while also open to the public, will be the showcase and culmination of the weekend's workshops and will feature the best of all of the participating groups.
