Melrose, Mass. —

You may have seen the group North Shore performing on NBC’s “The Sing-Off,” but for Melrose residents, getting a taste of their harmonizing melodies doesn’t have to come from the television.

Every other Wednesday, locals can make their way to Bobby C’s Ristorante on Main Street in Melrose for a live, interactive performance by this a capella group.

Although they were eliminated from “The Sing-Off”on Monday after week five, North Shore member Vinny Straccia said the show breathed new life into the group. It motivated them to practice and perform more, and they are now busy at least five days a week with gigs. (Scroll to the end of this story to watch a video clip from the show.)

“We felt very fortunate to have a vehicle like [“The Sing-Off”] to promote North Shore,” Straccia said.

“The Sing-Off” is a televised singing competition that features 16 talented a cappella groups from around the country. The NBC show is hosted by Nick Lachey, formerly of 98 Degrees, with musician judges Sara Bareilles, Ben Folds and former Boyz II Men member Shawn Stockman.

Although North Shore only recently made their appearance to America on this season of “The Sing-Off,” the group has been together for the past 31 years, performing all around the Northeast.

“People around here know us well,” said Straccia.
