Whew!! What a great weekend we just had with the Region 4 competition of Sweet Adelines International at the Covington Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky held on April 19 - 22. Not only did ladies from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia perform with their own individual choruses and quartets in their annual Sweet Adeline acapella competition, but 150 of these gals have also committed to becoming a member of the World Choir Games Chorus from Region 4 of Sweet Adelines International.

The first actual performance of this group was on Saturday night after the Regional Competition to show the region what we had done in just four rehearsals. The crowd loved the performance and it showed with several standing ovations. The World Choir Games is a world-wide competition where thousands of the world’s best singers will invade Cincinnati this July. Hundreds of choirs from Africa, Asia, Europe, Australia, North America and South America competing in 23 categories over 11 thrilling days. This year a new category for Barbershop Singing was opened and the Region 4 World Choir Games Chorus is ready for the hunt for Gold. The World Choir Games managed by Interkultur, and is held bi-annually in different parts of the world and this will be the 7th World Choir Games Competition EVER and the very FIRST to be held in the United States. In 2010 it was held in Shaoxing, Shanghai China and in 2014 it will be held in Riga, Latvia.
