Green Bay Boy Choir & Girl Choir
The Green Bay Boy Choir and Girl Choir are music performance and education programs for boys and girls emphasizing the development of music skills and understanding. The Mission of the organization is to provide quality music instruction with the goal of attaining the highest level of artistic excellence in choral music performance. The Choirs endeavor to enrich the lives of children from all religious, racial, cultural and economic backgrounds. Through music activities and community involvement, the Choirs help to foster the personal and social growth of its members and promote their sense of self-esteem, accomplishment and pride.
Boy Choirs
Founded in 1980 by Audrey Olson, the Green Bay Boy Choir has grown to include boys in four levels of vocal experience and ability. All choirs are both training and performing units. The music program is based on progressive vocal music instruction and performance readiness. Choir members must be at least seven years old. Admission to the touring choir is by placement auditions. Auditions are held in the spring or by appointment. School music teacher recommendations are welcomed for ages 7-18. Classical music literature forms the foundation for choir instruction. Repertoire includes contemporary, folk, ethnic, sacred, and secular music.
Girl Choirs
The Girl Choir tradition began on May 11, 1996 when 180 girls became charter members. The choir has grown to include girls in five levels of vocal experience and ability. All choirs are both training and performing units. The music program is based on progressive vocal music instruction and performance readiness. Choir members must be at least seven years old. Admission to the touring choir is by placement auditions. Auditions are held in the spring or by appointment. School music teacher recommendations are welcomed for ages 7-18.
