MOVING INTO 2011

OUT OF THE BLUE, Yale University's only co-ed pop/rock a cappella group, is
an energy-charged vocal ensemble with high levels of musicality and style, with elements of both vocal percussion and choreography; they arrange and perform the latest in contemporary music for audiences, including songs by artists like Michael Buble, Kings of Leon, Mika, Maroon 5, and Taylor Swift. We are also pleased to announce this year's headlining groups: the sensational vocal band MOSAIC and Sing-Off contenders The Backbeats! MOSAIC hails from Las Vegas boasting a star-studded history including taking the title of MTV's Top Pop Group in 2008, multiple CARA awards and appearances on America's Got Talent! The Backbeats is composed predominantly of LA-area a cappella alumni whose powerful and soulful style is sure to take them far on The Sing-Off this December.

The Los Angeles A Cappella Festival remains an invaluable opportunity for learning, performing and networking--whether your group is newly-formed or a seasoned competitor. Workshops will focus on a variety of topics including solo performance, vocal percussion, arranging, marketing, live sound, choreography, competing in the ICCAs, studio recording and more!

LOOKING FOR MATERIAL
Morgan Ames of INNER VOICES is producing and arranging an album for the New Directions Veterans Choir.  “This is an a cappella group of ex-homeless veterans, men and women, from several wars.  Most of them live at the VA and they have pulled their lives together in a spectacular way.  One of them, George Hill, built this choir, which was an old dream he had.  They appeared some months ago on America's Got Talent (www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5z-h92h6Ks) and blew everyone away.  This is a moving project, which will be called “When We Sing Together We Survive."  Paul Williams wrote that, in a brand new song which we are doing.  I am looking for inspiring material (not religious).  Email me at morganames@sbcglobal.net.

EVOLUTION is looking for one more tenor/bass:
 Must Be: hip, cool, attractive, between 22 and 35, charismatic, health conscious, able to move well (Modern-Urban Dance Skills a plus) TENOR or BASS (comfortable and capable of singing a High C or Low C respectively), musically literate (ability to sight read music), fluent in the musical genres of Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, and R n’ B; able to harmonize in tune, sufficient in musical improvisation, willing and able to commit to rehearsal and tour/performance schedules.
