Unstrumental, an a cappella singing group at Calabasas High School, has come away a big winner for the second year in a row at the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival.

The festival at USC, which included workshops, professional performances, lectures and master classes, was a week-long event that ran through Feb. 3.

Calabasas High and Oakland School of the Arts were the only high schools to compete in the festival. Two groups from UCLA and two from USC also competed.

Unstrumental received several awards. They placed second overall in the competition and won awards for best choreography and fan favorite, called the “Standing Ovation.” Teacher Bill Brown received a best arrangement award for the song “Samson.”
