Hats off to Glee for convincing the mainstream US music market that they do actually love a cappella music. Today there are three tracks performed by The Warblers (aka The Tufts Beelzebubs) in the iTunes top 10.
"Silly Love Songs" opb Paul McCartney / Wings
"When I Get You Alone" - opb Robin Thicke
"Bills, Bills, Bills" - opb Destiny's Child
If you hear someone playing one of those songs, tell them about the a cappella community. As we know, this music is just the tip of the iceberg into a whole world of contemporary a cappella music. Some of this past year's best is currently nominated for a CARA. You can nominated the rest for a 2011 ACA here.
One other a cappella track that made it into the iTunes top 200 songs today is a cover of "Firework" by Ithacappella & Premium Blend. All proceeds go to the Trevor Project. More about that project and the celebrities endorsing it can be found on http://www.ithacappella.com/.
