SWINGLE SINGERS AUDITIONS

International a cappella group the Swingle Singers are looking for the perfect versatile female Alto and Soprano

The ideal candidates will be comfortable in classical, jazz and pop styles, with the ability to take any vibrato off the voice and sing softly throughout the vocal range:Alto (low E – top G)

High soprano (low G to super E)

In both cases notes outside this range would be useful.

The positions will also include a certain amount of vocal improvisation, and someone who is comfortable improvising would be preferable but not essential. Good reading skills would also be an asset. This is a rare opportunity to be part of this world-renowned ensemble.

The Swingle Singers perform in some of the world's greatest concert halls, as well as jazz clubs, festivals and arenas. The group's tours in 2008 include USA, Russia, Korea and extensive touring across Europe.

This is a full-time professional position. Each singer is unique and indispensable, and the group does not use deputies. The entire repertoire is performed from memory and with microphones. We are looking for singers with solid tuning and rhythm and the ability to perform to an exceptionally high standard both as part of an ensemble and as a soloist.

Job commences:

Alto - September 08

Soprano - January 09

First round of both sets of auditions will be held during the week beginning 5th May. Applications should include CV, photo and demo tracks if available and should be made by email to md@swinglesingers.com by 21st April 2008

More info at www.swinglesingers.com

MASTERS OF HARMONY
Carpenter Center in Long Beach on Saturday, May 17th.

From our SoCal Ambassador Dane Hutchins:

The MOH is an amazing performing arts organization with a truly "world

class" stage show. They'll be competing in Nashville in July for their

7th consecutive International gold medal. (Competing groups don't even

advance to the international level unless they're very, very good! To

win it 6 times in a row is a statement of the performance quality of

this outstanding group.) Also in the show will be Max Q, the current

reigning International gold medal winning quartet, plus others. If you

love performing arts, you will love this show! (This isn't your

grandpa's local barbershop group, I assure you!)
________________________________________________________________________

SINGERS AND VPs sought for a new Contemporary Acappella League group, big on horn sections, like Tower of Power, Earth, Wind and Fire,Sly and the Family Stone, also anything with big instrumental sound, so we will do some progressive rock, and other styles as well. The group will grow to about 20 members. Arrangements have a huge variety of voice parts as well as multiple vocal percussion parts; we're big on rhythm. Finland Report
Written by Indra Tedjasukukmana
Tuesday, 13 November 2007
So I am here, writing from Finland land of the thousand vocal ba…I mean…lakes and…well OK let´s get to the point. As some of you may know, I am from Germany. However, since September I have been living in Helsinki where I study at the “Sibelius Academy”, the largest Scandinavian Music University. Many of the members of the Finnish top a cappella groups “Rajaton” (5-times Gold, multiple times on top of the Finnish pop charts (!)) and “Club for Five” ( for Gold, Universal Records) graduated from there and the Academy arranged private studies for me with both of the groups in everything that has to do with vocal arranging, vocal production and other all vocal concerns. Today I would like to tell you about my studies with Club for Five:
