One of a cappella’s flagship groups has emerged from
retirement boasting this gem from the fabled Lost Caves of Awesome Music. That’s right, kids; Vox One has a new album
called Pure Imagination.
Let me make this short and sweet…wow.
Ok, let me make this a little longer and sweeter. These 14 tracks (plus one hidden track)
shouldn’t be listened to; they should be dissected, devoured, and digested from
every angle. Be first to comment this article | Add as favorites (35) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1904 |

Question: Why is there a lack of female involvement in a cappella outside of a singing capacity? Who knew (girl group) 702
would be quote-worthy? However, when talking about the role of women in
contemporary a cappella, the line seems very appropriate (and we’ll
conveniently ignore the fact that the song is about keeping a man,
considering the topic matter).
While it is true that women
have become more involved in a cappella outside of simply contributing
their voices (particularly in regards to arranging), it is still a
male-dominated industry. The history/roots of a cappella are based in
men’s groups, but then again, that can be said about most things. And
women have fought to work their way into everything else (in and out of
A Cappella Land). So, why not vocal percussion? Why not CD production?
And why are most people so put off by female groups? How many more
questions can one ask before it becomes redundant? Oh, nevermind. Comments (11) | Add as favorites (29) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1649 |
