Clemmons/Dewing Casting will be holding open calls in New York for THE VOCA PEOPLE, an internationally renowned a cappella vocal theater company. The group is famous for combining human vocals with modern beat-box to perform new musical arrangements and unique implementations of over 70 well known songs and melodies from across the history of music.


[Male and Female Singers] 20s-40s, all types, all ethnicities. MUST BE ABLE TO SIGHTREAD MUSIC, have experience in singing harmonies, and possess good physical comedy skills. Should have complete control over their vibrato and be able to imitate various instruments.  Must be adventurous, resourceful, imaginative, and fearless.

[Male Vocal Percussionists- beat boxers] 20s-40s, all types, all ethnicities. Must be able to create a wide variety of sounds in many styles (classical, swing, jazz, pop, rock, funk, rap, country, electronic, etc.), create sound effects, and imitate various percussion sounds.  (music reading is a big plus but not essential) and possess good physical comedy skills.  Must be adventurous, resourceful, imaginative, and fearless.

Please prepare two contrasting selections to be sung a cappella – 1) a pop song of your choice and 2) a song from The Voca People’s History of Music.  List of songs can be found at www.clemmonsdewing.com/voca.html. For Beatboxers please prepare a 1-minute showcase of your best beats & tricks. No singing required. Mic provided for Beatboxers.
