			<title>Nu Millennium’s Grounds Breaking Concert/Poem Opens In NYC May 30, 2008</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1301/242/</link>
<description>Nu Millennium is one of New York’s premiere a capella groups. This production has a theme of Love and heart break like it was during the 1960’s and 1970’s. While the poetry is overtly hilarious, the songs are soulful and melodic. The styles are classic R and B and Doo Wop, which were staples of the times. The group performed in the Off Broadway Musical Barry White:Guided by Destiny which received raves during its run. It was also produced by Wabi Sabi Productions. The production also features Gezele Portwood a singer/actress and Tina Lynn Dickerson an abstract artist and costumer.

<description>An interactive exhibit tunes in the sounds of Tufts community

It could be an oracle: A glowing dial with a lens in the middle blinks with images. It hums in the key of E inside a blue-domed gazebo, which sits atop a temple of learning: Tisch Library, high on the hill that Tufts University occupies here.

This is &quot;Harmony in the Age of Noise,&quot; an interactive sound-art installation designed by Bruce Odland. It may not tell you the future, but it will certainly tune you into the present, as you dial through the sounds of Medford.

<description>In my last article, I told you all how I finally found my way through the naming maze to find the correct session to work on. That was the easy part! Now we’re inside the session and I have to do a lot of expensive housework to get things in workable order.</description>

			<title>Making it Sweet</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1298/242/</link>
<description>The City of Gardens Chorus has something to sing about.

Made up of South Island women, the a capella group was recently honoured as the third best choral group west of Manitoba.

“It’s always been a high achieving chorus,” said director Julie Smith. “They set their goals for this year and achieved every one of them.”

The 70-member chorus travelled to Surrey in April to compete in the annual regional competition. The group was up against more than 20 choruses from B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan. Aside from finishing third overall, the group’s quartets, Accent and Euphoria, won fourth and sixth overall, respectively. Euphoria was also named most improved quartet.

			<title>Fest 'kaleidoscope of voices'	</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1299/242/</link>
<description>UWO Don Wright music faculty voice professor Jennifer Moir just brought Finnish choral stars Rajaton to London.

Now, Moir is back with the fourth edition of the Kaleid choral fest, a four-day event shared by Woodstock and London. It brings together top vocal ensembles with students and community choirs.

Rajaton were guests at an earlier edition of Kaleid. The 2008 guests are Juno-nominated Toronto vocal quartet Cadence, another a cappella ensemble. Moir is the fest's artistic director. She's also the artistic director of Kaleid's host choir, the Woodstock Fanshawe Singers.

			<title>Spring Jamboree '08 - Encore, Please?</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1297/242/</link>
<description>Once again, Jamboree staged Swarthmore’s finest a capella groups, with the unfortunate exclusion of Cantantrix. The event was an improvement on last year, both in musicality and in theatrics.

Grapevine’s intro for each group was a parody of a familiar song and a parody of each group. The first group to perform, Mixed Company, received a censure for its improper attempt at a contraction, MoCo. The climax of their set was the theatrically preformed Come Sail Away by the Styx, featuring Chris Klaniecki ‘10 complete with a one-feather sailor’s hat and a sense of wanderlust. I won’t reveal it, but expect some theatrical surprises by Klaniecki in tonight’s performance. Hats off to MoCo…literally.

			<title>Here Come Da Judge; A Meditation</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1294/243/</link>
<description>Part of me always feels bad when I’m judging a competition. I’m basically conflicted at the notion of combining music and competition. I think it was Berlioz – but it probably wasn’t – who said that competitions were for horses, not musicians. And yet we are universally drawn to them. They are our ever popular ‘refiner’s fire’; we’re always making qualitative determinations, looking to separate out the best of whatever it is that interests us. But I’m not sure that applying to music the same ethic we attach to sports really helps the music, or maybe more accurately helps to nurture the love of it. Every competition has more losers than winners. And making music isn’t about that.

<title>Barbershop singers say it takes a group effort</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1290/242/</link>
<description>Tom Crytzer grew up listening to barbershop music in his sleep.
The veteran member of the Alle-Kiski Valley Barbershop Showtime Chorus means that literally.

His dad, Layton &quot;Rusty&quot; Crytzer of Natrona Heights, used to practice in the basement with several quartets.

&quot;I used to hear the sound of their singing coming up through the floor registers into my bedroom at night,&quot; Crytzer says.

			<title>Free Music?</title>
			<link>http://www.casa.org/content/view/1293/243/</link>
			<description>Today’s first subject: Free Music!

What’s the thing about free music these days?

Last podcast featured Duwende Collective – available for free download at duwende.com. Radiohead’s new album was offered as a pay-what-you-want (you could pay nothing, although you still had to pay a processing fee)… no longer available to download. Legally. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is marketing his new album in various incarnations and monetary amounts, from free to $300 (and his free doesn’t include a processing fee like Radiohead’s did) – here: http://ghosts.nin.com/

So, what’s up with that?

The singer, who is currently supporting the release of her ‘As I Am’ album, will screen people via the social networking site through videos uploaded to her Myspace page by the contestants.
