Cash for CASA Staff Writers 2007/04/10 21:14 Karma: 1
Greetings Aca-Friends,

Marty Gasper (CASA's online editor) here calling out to anyone and everyone interested in writing for CASA.org. As you probably know, CASA strives to be the one-stop-shop for all things contemporary a cappella and our website (www.casa.org) is the gateway to that information.

The front page of our website contains breaking news announcements, industry articles from outside sources, blogs from the top pros in contemporary a cappella, and feature stories showcasing and exploring related people, places, and events all related to contemporary a cappella.

In the past, the bulk of our news (with a few exceptions) has come from outside sources. That is, we would paste the headlines of other articles from other websites and link to those articles thus driving people away from our site.

I am looking to hire a small staff of writers for CASA.org. 2 to 4 people willing to be responsible for only 3 articles a month. The subject matter of these articles will be a mix of topics I assign, topics you bring to the table, reviews of CDs/Shows, interviews with groups/industry pros, and a monthly column all to you own, etc. These positions come with a small stipend of $50 for churning out 3 articles per month.

CASA, being a non-profit charity organization, runs almost all of its programs using a team of volunteers and the web team is no exception. However, CASA does provide a small stipend to me as web editor for ensuring the quantity and quality of the website content. Wishing to build a staff of dedicated contributers, I will pay the staff writers using the small budget allocated for web editing.

In addition to the stipend, you receive the following benefits: You will be a published write (add to your resume), you will develop a deeper, working knowledge of contemporary a cappella (business and artistic), use your "press" status to get into concerts for free from bands that want to be reviewed, network with industry pros, develop your own personal fan base as fans flock to CASA.org to read your latest articles, become worldly famous- known throughout our galaxy and others. Soon after, you'll hire body guards for protections, you'll begin a substance abuse problem, go in and out of rehab, shave your head, join and quit all major religions and cults, be featured on VH1 behind the music and then HBO will produce a miniseries based on your life, and finally you'll receive a lifetime achievement award for you contributions to contemporary a cappella.

How could you say no?!?

Interested writers should contact me at the following email address:
editor@casa.org

I need writers immediately so please don't hesitate to call with any questions. Feel free to pass this along to anyone you think might be interested in this position.

If you're at all interested in journalism and a cappella, please consider joining our team! The a cappella community needs more original reporting, and you can make a difference!
