Brian Michaels

When did you first become involved in a cappella? In what capacity? October of 1997 hosting a weekly a cappella radio show.

When did you first become involved with CASA? Early 1998 as the Minnesota Ambassador.

What area do you cover as a CASA ambassador?
The midwest region, MN, ND, SD etc.

What role do you play as a CASA ambassador and/or what role would you like to play? I do what I can to help promote a cappella music.  I have worked with a lot of up and coming groups over the years and I continue to work with different venues to book a cappella groups.

What do you do for work and play?
I am a purchasing specialist for Cargill Inc and do voiceover work. For play: camping, motorcycle, martial arts, geocaching, judging professional fights and poker.

Tell us one thing about yourself people would be surprised to learn. I have been involved in martial arts most of my life and hold a black belt in traditional tae kwon do.

Favorite a cappella group?
Too many to narrow down, but a few stand out as special. Marcoux Corner because I was around them almost from the beginning, and Four Shadow because they were the first pro group to reach out to me.

Favorite type of music?
Contemporary and doo wop

Favorite a cappella concert? Big Sing USA, June of 1998 when The Blenders and m-pact teamed up and called themselves Blend-Pact because Rockapella's flight was cancelled. Blend-Pact jammed for about an hour.

Anything you'd like the CASA readership to know about your area?
Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) puts on 3-4 "A Cappella Nights" every year and is very supportive. They even do a yearly "A Cappella Battle of The Bands"
